Basic Requirement of Food Safety Management System / ISO 22000
Introduction
Food safety is a global concern and affect both consumers and businesses in the food industry and linked to the
presence of food-borne hazards in food at the point of consumption. Since food safety hazards can occur at any
stage in the food chain it is essential that adequate control be in place.
ISO 22000 is an international standard that defines the requirements of a Food Safety Management System
covering all organizations in the food chain from “farm to fork”.
Therefore we can say that Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is a an integrated system which provides the
minimum requirements needed for an organization to manage and mitigate food safety hazards and therefore
establish the Food Safety.

Codex Alimentarius Commission. It combines the HACCP plan with prerequisite programme (PRPs) and
